Jeepers Creepers

Halloween Cupcake, originally uploaded by kellbakes.

Hope you are all having a fabulous & slightly (or very, if you’re into that sort of thing!) spooky Halloween! Feel free to share your costume, the coolest candy loot you’ve ever scored, or the creepiest decoration at the party you’re attending. I’ll be dressed as CSI Miami’s Horatio Caine, complete with orange wig and sunglasses. I know, I know. You wish you’d thought of it first.

Went to see Wellington’s third annual zombie parade! My brother was ‘attacked’ by a few but luckily he was saved by a mysterious stranger :)

  2. fish eye no miko says:

Ah, so cute! Halloween sprinkles! Awesome!

  3. I thought that was a bunny on there at first, then realized it’s a ghost turned sideways. What I want to know is when did purple and green become colors of Halloween? Seems like it sort of crept in there and suddenly it’s everywhere, along with the traditional orange and black.

  4. ChocolateCheesecake says:

Orange, black, and green I understand, but purple?

i was mario, and my brother was luigi. the best thing i ever got was a big jar of play-dough(it was pink!)

  6. Yeah, purple. That’s what I keep seeing in the stores. I have a feeling those colors came about with the development of glow-in-the-dark colors, and lime green can really glow, and the purple is all kind of spooky and eerie. And it makes it easier for commerical endevours to create and market items for Halloween. It’s all about the money, after all. I’m such a cynic. lol!

I also think green comes from slime and being a color for witches (think the Wicked Witch in “Wizard of Oz”). And, actually, purple is a nice complimentary color for green, which might be part of it.

I went as a birthday cake this year!! =] if I ever get around to posting pics I’ll leave a link. I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty awesome.

The best loot I got was probably a rotten steak from a drunk college student. He wasn’t prepared for hlloween and simply grabbed some items from his freezer! My sister got ground beef….
What? I didn’t say it tasted good, which I wouldn’t know, as it went straight to the trash, but it was the best in a funny sort of way!

Purple is the “mysterious” color, it’s also the darkest color next to black so it made it in.

Purple halloween stuff first started popping up in little kid versions of the normal merchandise- instead of black plastic cat whistles, the kiddies got purple along with their orange. Because black was a little too extreme or some nonsense. I remember people hailing it as a great idea, as if children were being traumatized by black plastic toys… *shakes head*

Then it kinda caught on because purple mixes so well with black, it’s nice with a gothic theme, and people are a little sick of orange.

    Looks amazing!
Ghost and bat sprinkles, now that is cute!
The green frosting really adds that halloween goop element, not to mention the dark chocolate bottom!
    I bet it was delicious!
