Cannoli Christmas

Here’s another version of the Christmas tree made of sweets, this time cannoli-style. (Click here for the recipe!)
I guess now is the perfect time to admit that I’ve never actually had cannoli, largely because I spent quite a few years confusing it with cannelloni. We’ve talked before on this blog about various incorrect confectionery conjectures I (and some of you) have had in the past, but has anyone else actually totally confused one food for another? Spill in the comments!

I thought cannoli was rolled, although I still didn’t confuse it with cannelloni (which I thought was cannellini, and maybe that’s why I wasn’t confused). I thought it was kind of like a crepe, soft, with some kind of sweet filling. But I’ve never had one either. It’s far too exotic for my German-Norwegian family, doncha know.
It’s usually rolled, you’re right. From what I can make of the recipe, I think they’re just using the typical cannoli “dough” to make the stars above, and then the creme in between them is typical cannoli filling.
I love cannolis, and I suppose they come in all shapes and sizes!
heh, i didnt even know cannoli was an actual thing, much less food… lol
only time id ever heard that word was” Holy Cannoli!”
now i feel silly
yum, my mum has never made them like that before. Being Italian, we have these a lot, they are the best!!!!
Yep, that’s what I gathered also from reading the recipe. I might give it a try! I liked the multiple flavored fillings.
Well, I think almost everyone here has made the sherbet – sorbet mistake. What IS the difference, anyway???
This is pretty.
Ive never made the sherbet/sorbet mistake…
sherbet is a fizzy tasting sweet powder/crystals
& sorbet is frozen fruit puree type stuff
